Lightning kills Etna hikers

Two Swiss tourists were killed by lightning 9,000 feet up Mount Etna in Sicily.

Hikers found the bodies of the 29-year-old woman and 45-year-old man today.

Burn marks indicated they were struck by lightning during a violent storm that passed over the region on Wednesday.

The two were found on the northeastern side of Etna, on the opposite side from where the volcano began erupting last month.

Tourists have been allowed back on Mount Etna since the lava stopped spouting in early August.
