Asylum seekers found in inflatable dinghy in channel

Two suspected asylum seekers have been picked up in the middle of the English Channel while trying to sail through dense fog in an inflatable dinghy, coastguards said.

The crew of a fishing boat were stunned when they spotted the man and woman paddling towards the English coast at about 9am today in a position 10 miles off Dungeness, Kent.
