Japanese leftists claim they planted Tokyo bomb

A Japanese radical leftist group claimed it carried out an explosion this week near the Tokyo office of nationalist scholars who wrote a school history textbook criticised for whitewashing Japanese war crimes, local media said today.

The group, calling itself the ‘‘Revolutionary Army’’, said in a letter sent to several Japanese news agencies that it planted the bomb in Tuesday’s attack, Kyodo and national broadcaster NHK television said.
