Celtic fan shot before European soccer match
A Celtic fan is in hospital after being shot in a bar in Amsterdam.
The 41-year-old, who has not been named, was in Holland for his team's Champions League qualifier with Ajax.
He has been taken to hospital with chest wounds and is said to be in a stable condition.
The fan is understood to have been drinking with the travelling Celtic contingent in Teasers Bar in the city centre when the shooting took place.
A police spokesman said: "A man has been shot in the Teasers pub and was wearing a Celtic shirt at the time.
"He has been taken to hospital where he is being treated, but he is said to be okay."
Celtic said the incident was not football-related.
The Celtic fans mingled with the Ajax supporters throughout the day and there had been a friendly atmosphere.
A spokeswoman for the Foreign Office confirmed a man "with Scottish connections" had been injured in a shooting in a bar in the city.
The police spokesman said the injured man had been in the bar with his son and brother when a lone gunman entered the premises and shot him once in the chest before fleeing
