Three children pulled from car in lake
Three children have been taken to hospital after they were pulled from a car which rolled into a lake in Bedfordshire.
Two adults managed to get out of the car and raise the alarm at 4.15pm after the vehicle went down a steep bank into the lake at Arlesey, Bedfordshire.
Fire officials said the car was under water for about an hour before the children were brought out.
Inspector Jonathan Bevan, of Bedfordshire Police, said: "I can't really say one way or they other what condition they are in. They're on their way to hospital now."
He said: "The car rolled over a small cliff surrounding the lake and the water was deep enough for it to submerge.
"The car went totally under the water. The adults managed to escape but the children were not so lucky.
"The rescue operation involved all the public services. A helicopter and the emergency services rushed to the scene and a rescue plan was put into operation."
