India in ‘constructive’ talks with Pakistan
The leaders of India and Pakistan held ‘‘frank and constructive’’ talks about nuclear safeguards, the fighting in Kashmir and freer trade during their first formal talks in two years today.
With the Taj Mahal a backdrop to their landmark summit, Pakistan President General Pervez Musharraf and Indian Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee appeared relaxed during a prolonged handshake that preceded talks lasting much of the afternoon.
