US President against human cloning

The US President, George W Bush wants to introduce a complete ban on human cloning.

Officials from the White House say that creating embryos for research outside of the womb should be outlawed and there are currently two bills under discussion, which will put a ban on human cloning if they are passed.

One of the bills is similar to the legal stance that has been adapted in Britain, where cloning is allowed under certain circumstances for research but embryos cannot be implanted into a womb.
