McVeigh spends final hours just feet from chamber

Timothy McVeigh’s final requested meal was two pints of mint chocolate chip ice cream.

He had the food at 1pm (6pm Irish time) yesterday, said Dan Dunne, a spokesman for the US Bureau of Prisons.

The meal could have been anything from a local restaurant as long as it cost less than dlrs 20 (£13).

McVeigh has been ‘‘sleeping normally’’, Dunne said.
