Bomb attack on Turkish Cypriot leader

A bomb exploded outside the home of the premier of the breakaway Turkish Cypriot republic today, slightly injuring a policeman .

Prime Minister Dervis Eroglu and his wife were unharmed, police said. There was no claim of responsibility.

Cyprus has been divided between Greek and Turkish communities since 1974 when Turkey sent in troops to the northern third of the island following a short-lived coup by supporters of union with Greece. Only Turkey recognises the breakaway Turkish Cypriot state.
