Hindley complains over Mirror cancer report

Myra Hindley has complained to Britain's Press Complaints Commission over reports in The Mirror that she is dying from lung cancer.

The newspaper last month reported she had only weeks to live last month.

Hindley's solicitors, however, have written to the PCC, asking for the claim to be retracted.

Her solicitor Andrew McCooey said: "There is no evidence my client is suffering from cancer or has ever had cancer.

"It is not true that she is close to death or has a terminal illness. My client has given me full authority to have access to her medical records to prove the case.

"The resulting publicity from three pages of tabloid sensationalism was distressing for my client's mother, who is in her 80s. She was deeply shocked to read the story.

"My client may be a notorious criminal but newspapers have no right to say she is dying when she is not."
