Intercity express crash injures 40

An intercity express train travelling from Nice to Venice crashed near the French-Italy border overnight, injuring 40 people and derailing the locomotive and two carriages.

Four people were in serious condition today at hospitals around Bordighera, 45 miles east of Nice. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
