Teacher 'shoots two colleagues then botches suicide'

South African police say a teacher shot dead his girlfriend and a second colleague before making a botched suicide attempt.

Around 300 students ran for cover when they heard the gun shots at Vukandlule Junior Secondary School in Port St John, Eastern Cape.

Police say the teacher had an argument with several teachers before the incident.

He's due to appear in court on Monday to face charges in connection with the incident.

Officers found a suicide note and an unlicensed revolver with six rounds of ammunition at the scene.
