Kilshaws lose high court battle

Alan and Judith Kilshaw have lost their High Court battle to keep the twin nine-month-old babies they said they adopted legally over the internet.

Mr Justice Kirkwood made an order which will result in the twin girls returning to the US state of Missouri where they were born.

In a statement issued by the judge after he gave his ruling in private, he said that the twins would be looked after by foster parents in Missouri where a court will decide there what is in their best interests.

The couple, from Buckley, north Wales, who say they paid a US baby broker £8,200 to adopt the girls, began a legal battle with Flintshire Social Services in January when it took the girls into care.

Belinda and Kimberley, also the subject of a transatlantic custody battle involving their natural mother and father, are currently being cared for by foster parents in north Wales.

Before the judgement was made public, Mrs Kilshaw ran from court.

During her first outburst outside the courtroom, Mrs Kilshaw screamed: "There is no justice. They said I lied."

She was restrained by High Court staff as she harangued media representatives outside the courtroom and went back inside a few minutes later.

Twenty minutes later, she was escorted from Court 43 and taken along the corridor by a court official and her 18-year-old daughter Kaley.

Mrs Kilshaw called out: "You are all wrong. I told them the truth and he (the judge) has not heard it."

She struggled violently with the court official, who was trying to calm her down, saying: "They are all liars and I hate them."
