A school fire which killed at least 58 students in Kenya may have been started deliberately.

The fire broke out in a boarding school dormitory in the district of Machakos just outside Nairobi.

Police say all the victims are boys and 28 pupils have also been seriously injured.

An investigation has started at Kyangulu Mixed Secondary School.

It is reported 139 children were asleep in the school building when the fire broke out.
