Julia Roberts was given advice by Hilary Swank while she waited to find out if she had won the Best Actress Oscar.

Last year's winner kept reminding Roberts to breathe every time she walked past her seat during the Oscar ceremony.

Roberts also said she had forgotten to thank the real Erin Brockovich in her acceptance speech.

"Shamefully, shamefully I forgot to thank Erin," she said at the post-Oscars press conference.

"She is the centre of our universe for the movie. I was remiss in not acknowledging her tonight."

Roberts says Steven Soderbergh should not expect her to be paying attention on the set of Ocean's 11.

She said: "I won't have a proper thought in six to 10 days."

Roberts went over her alloted 45 seconds to make her acceptance speech, refusing to be cut short:

"Everybody tried to shut me up," she says. "It didn't work with my parents, it won't work now! A gal's gotta have her moment."
