Hindley undergoing surgery

Myra Hindley is having surgery after being moved from prison.

The Moors murderer was transferred to an NHS hospital from Highpoint Prison, near Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, where she is serving a life sentence.

Prison service sources say she is undergoing surgery at the West Suffolk hospital in the town and is likely to remain there over the weekend. It is not known what she is being treated for.

The sources said Hindley's operation had been prearranged and she had been on a waiting list for some months.

It is understood she is staying in a single room away from other patients to avoid disrupting the normal running of the hospital.
