Body found in Gatwick jet's wheel well
A body has been found in the wheel well of a US Airways jet at San Francisco International Airport.
It is not known how the unidentified man died or whether he was a stowaway.
Flight 741 originated at Gatwick Airport and made a stop in Pittsburgh before landing in San Francisco on Monday night.
A mechanic checking a possible hydraulic leak in the 767 found the man, airport duty manager Mike Towle said.
A Gatwick police spokesman said an officer will go to San Francisco to identify the dead man, who they say is of Afro-Caribbean appearance and in his 20s.
He added the dead man may have been arrested at the weekend for entering a restricted area at the airport. He was later bailed.
John Ellis, for US Airways, said: "We are co-operating fully with the police and other authorities in their investigation".
