Valentines Day: Happy Valentine's text messages to reach 50 million

Valentine's Day will break text-message records in the UK, with 50 million messages expected to be sent.

The number will smash the previous record of 12 million New Year's Eve text messages.

The Post Office reckons it will deliver around 12 million Valentine's cards today.

The most popular messages are expected to be: "I luv u" and "hppy vlntns dy".

A spokesman for The Link communications shop chain said: "The mobile is the perfect platform for the 21st century love note.

"It's very personal and there's a certain amount of excitement every time your phone bleeps to say you have another message."
