Napster "as evil as Coca-Cola" - Manics

A key member of one of Britain's top bands has denounced the Napster music-swapping site as "evil". Manic Street Preachers bassist Nicky Wire said that Napster is the "antithesis" of everything their new album Know Your Enemy is about.

Speaking after the group's record label Sony Music stopped tracks from the album appearing on Napster, Wire commented: "I have no interest in Napster. I think the idea that Napster is a charity is hideous. They're an American company who are desperately out to conquer the world and sell their shares for as much as they can. They're just as evil as Coca-Cola. It's the Americanisation of the world once again. I have no interest in it."
