Reagan goes home a week after hip surgery

Ronald Reagan has returned to his Bel-Air home a week after hip surgery.

The frormer US President, now 89, was admitted to Saint John's Health Centre in Santa Monica on January 13.

Mr Reagan, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, fell and broke his hip the day before.

Surgeons inserted a pin, plate and screws to repair the hip during a 65-minute operation. He will continue physical therapy sessions at home.

It was initially though that the Americas's 40th President would be discharged from hospital on Monday.
