Bush sworn in as US President
George W Bush has been sworn in as the 43rd President of the United States in a ceremony on Capitol Hill, Washington.
Mr Bush took over the reins from Bill Clinton, eight years after his father handed them to the outgoing president.
In his inauguration speech, the new US President promised to reward "the efforts of working Americans" by cutting taxes.
He also underlined his commitment to foreign policy and America's involvement in overseas conflict.
Mr Bush has been criticised in the past for a lack of interest in international affairs.
