Van crushed by train

At least 11 people have been killed when a train ploughed into a van on a level crossing in southeastern Spain.

The van was totally crushed by the train which was carrying immigrant workers to farms nearby.

"We don't know exactly how many victims there are," said the Mayor of Lorca, the town where the accident happened.

The train was travelling between Aguilas and Lorca and struck the van on the crossing which had no barriers. The dead are all believed to be from Ecuador.
