Christine Leinonen had been searching for information about her son, Christopher, who was at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida, when she was interviewed by ABC News.

In the strikingly moving interview, which has attracted media attention across the globe, she revealed how, after reading about the attack on social media, she rushed to the hospital to see if her son was amongst the injured or dead.

Becoming increasingly tearful she explained how she had been at the hospital since 4am but had received no news of her son, before finishing with an appeal that has resonated across the world.
