In the strikingly moving interview, which has attracted media attention across the globe, she revealed how, after reading about the attack on social media, she rushed to the hospital to see if her son was amongst the injured or dead.

Becoming increasingly tearful she explained how she had been at the hospital since 4am but had received no news of her son, before finishing with an appeal that has resonated across the world.

"I beg all of you please ... please let's all just get along.

"We are on this earth for such a short time ... Let's try to get rid of the hatred and the violence"
