Tasered man dies after ‘cannibal’ attack

A convicted criminal has died in Wales after he was tasered after attacking a woman whose face he allegedly tried to eat.

Matthew Williams, 34, who had recently been released from prison after serving a five-year sentence for violence, was found in a room at the Sirhowy Arms in the Welsh Valleys with the woman. The former pub and B&B has been used as a hostel for homeless people and people on bail in recent years.

It is understood police were called after hostel security staff entered the room in the early hours of yesterday morning and discovered Williams biting the woman’s face.
