VIDEO: Grandfather is moved to tears by puppy gift from family

A Belgian man was moved to tears after recieving a special gift from his family.

Francois Vermeir recently lost his wife of 63 years after a brief illness and his family presented him with a puppy to keep their grandfather company.

This heart-warming video was posted to YouTube by Mr Vermeir's grandson Davy Vanhaesendonck.

In the video, Davy explains that his grandfather lost someone very special when his grandmother died.

Mr Vermeir breaks down when his young granddaughter hands him the little Yorkshie Terrier puppy who she named Snoopy.

He described his new friend, Snoopy, as very playful and thanks his family for helping him through his grief.

In an interview with Belgian news, Mr Vermier said "I'm glad I have a new dog, but also such lovely children, grandchildren and a great-grandchild. Without them I might not have been here through the grief,"
