Ellen DeGeneres’s Oscar Selfie Becomes Most Retweeted Tweet Ever

The tweet featured a selfie of some of the top celebrities attending the event.
It only took 35 minutes for the photo to surpass the previous most retweeted tweet which was sent from Obama's Twitter account.
As you can see below, Obama's tweet said "Four more years" and featured a heartwarming photo of him hugging his wife Michelle. The tweet was retweeted almost 800,000 times.

Ellen's star studded tweet has been shared over 2 million times so far, with that number still growing.
Crowded in the photo with the host was an unfathomable roster of A-listers: Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie, Kevin Spacey, Channing Tatum, Jared Leto, Bradley Cooper, and Lupita Nyong'o.

It also created such a traffic surge that it knocked out Twitter for a few minutes.
Another fun fact: It is apparently Streep’s first tweet. She said: “I’ve never tweeted before” after the group selfie.
“We made history,” DeGeneres said.
