A 33-year-old man in Oklahoma allegedly killed his stepfather by yanking his underwear up his back and over his head so that the undergarment’s waistband was around his neck.
Records show that Brad Davis was arrested on Tuesday and booked into the Pottawatomie County jail on a complaint of the death of his stepfather, Denver St Clair.
A 10-page affidavit describes a fight that broke out on Dec 21 between Davis and his stepfather.
The state’s medical examiner said yesterday the cause of St Clair’s death was blunt force trauma to the head or asphyxia.
A koala joey, said to be the first to be born in the UK, has been named after keepers discovered that it is a male.
Yooranah was born at Edinburgh Zoo in May 2013, but keepers waited until he had fully emerged from mother Alinga’s pouch before they started to handle him. He was the size of a jelly bean, and hairless and blind when born but now weighs 1lb 6oz and has excellent vision.
Keepers have started a routine of regular weigh-ins, using a digital scale similar to those used to weigh baking ingredients. Yooranah is an indigenous Australian word meaning “loving”.
A rehearsal has taken place of the first girls’ choir at Canterbury Cathedral after more than 1,000 years of male-dominated singing.
Sixteen local girls aged between 12 and 16 were selected for the Canterbury Cathedral Girls’ Choir, the first to be assembled under the name of the seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury. They have rehearsed and tried on cathedral cassocks for the first time before their public debut at Evensong on Jan 25.
The girls’ choir director, David Newsholme, also the assistant organist at the cathedral, said this was “a very exciting time” for the cathedral and for the talented young women.
Easy on the cinnamon! That advice from Denmark’s food authority has angered pastry chefs whose cinnamon rolls were found to violate the EU’s spice rules.
The Danish Veterinary and Food Administration found that the cinnamon rolls and twists contained more coumarin — a chemical compound in the most common variety of cinnamon — than EU rules allow. Excessive intake of coumarin can cause liver damage.
So the agency asked Danish bakers to reduce the amount of cinnamon they sprinkle in the dough for sweet treats like the “kanelsnegel” (cinnamon roll) and “kanelstang” (cinnamon twist).
Bakers protested, saying the EU limit is too strict. Talks are to be held to see if the pastries can be classified as “traditional and seasonal bakery” for which EU rules are less strict.

Mario Andreas Godinez, 20, is facing a charge of attempted murder. Officers say he and two others are accused of attempting a 2012 break-in in Colorado. When they were unable to get inside, Godinez allegedly shot through the front door.
He left behind a shoe when the trio fled in a vehicle. He was arrested at a home outside San Antonio, Texas.
Zookeepers in Rio de Janeiro are giving the animals ice lollies as the country sizzles, with temperatures soaring to about 49C.
The homemade treats come in various flavours. For the big cats, there are bloody 60lb blocks of ice and raw meat.
There are bucket-sized cornucopias of iced fruit for Ze Comeia, a brown bear rescued from a circus, and a supply of chilled bananas for Karla the elephant.
