Locked-in man dies after losing court battle

Locked-in syndrome sufferer Tony Nicklinson bravely fought for the right to die with dignity but lost the will to carry on after losing his landmark High Court case last week.

Nicklinson had described his existence as “pure torture” and said he had been condemned to live in a state of suffering and indignity.

But despite the problems of his day-to-day life, he was determined to fight for a change in the law with the full support of his family.
