Murder charge for Florida teenager’s killer

Neighbourhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman is to be charged withsecond-degree murder over the shooting dead of unarmed black teenager Trayvon Martin in Florida.

Special prosecutor Angela Corey announced the charges against Zimmerman, 28, last night, and a law enforcement official added he was in custody.

Zimmerman’s lawyers, Hal Uhrig and Craig Sonner, said they were no longer representing him because they have not heard from him since Sunday, and there are growing concerns about his state of mind.
