Pricey pile-up as eight Ferraris collide

IT could be the most costly car crash ever.

Fourteen luxury cars, including eight Ferraris, were involved in a pricey pile-up in western Japan after a single miscalculation by a Ferrari driver led to a chain reaction wreck.

Even the least expensive Ferrari in the group — the F355 — cost €170,000 when new, and there were several involved.

Ten drivers were sent to hospital with minor injuries after the pile-up destroyed eight Ferraris, three Mercedes, a Lamborghini, a Nissan Skyline and a Toyota Prius.

The crash involved a group of foreign car enthusiasts heading to Hiroshima from Kyushu.

One of the drivers lost control trying to overtake a car on a wet, curved part of China Road in Yamaguchi Prefecture.

The Ferrari driver hit the median and created a reaction that caused the other cars in the lineup to crash, according to Japanese media.

It appears the Ferraris involved included multiple F355s, F430s (including a Scuderia), an F360, and a F512.

Other cars involved include Mercedes-Benz products including a CL600-type vehicle.
