NATO extends Libyan mission

NATO’S decision-making body has granted approval for the mission in Libya to continue for another 90 days.

The North Atlantic Council, composed of representatives from NATO’s 28 countries, approved the extension yesterday.

Without an extension, permission for the operation would have expired on September 27.

The official said the mission would be under constant review and could end at any time.

NATO took command of the operation in March.

Muammar Gaddafi has fallen from power in Libya but pockets of loyalist resistance remain.
