HONEY produced by bees that take pollen from GM crops will be effectively banned following a ruling by the European Court of Justice.

The decision will have wide-ranging implications for beekeepers throughout Europe, and for growers of the GM crops.

A group of German beekeepers took a case against the state of Bavaria which owns a number of plots of land where they were growing Monsanto’s GM maize for research. It is one of just two GM crops cultivated in Europe, mainly in Spain.
