Trapped man cuts off toes

A LUMBERJACK trapped deep in an isolated forest freed himself by cutting off all the toes on his right foot with a penknife.

Jon Hutt, 61, was pinned by a logging machine and said he was afraid it would take hours to find him and he might die.

He used a three-inch knife to sever his toes from the machinery about 30 minutes after realising no one heard his cries for help.
