40 children die in truck crash

AT LEAST 40 children died when the truck they were in crashed into a canal on the way back from a school outing in Bangladesh.

About 60 children between eight and 12 were on it and the death toll may rise as more bodies are feared trapped inside the sunken vehicle, police said.

Rescuers recovered 40 bodies from the wreckage in Chittagong district, about 200km from the capital, Dhaka.
