Green ideas the aim of the London games

UNIFORMS for the London 2012 torchbearers, volunteers and staff at the Olympic Village will be made from recycled materials, Adidas chief executive Herbert Hainer said.

“Every product within the volunteer staff and the torch relay and within the village will have recycled material,” he said.

Organisers and sponsors are hoping to make the London 2012 Olympic Games a sustainable event.

An Adidas spokesman said: “There will be a special volunteer shoe for the 70,000 volunteers — made of entirely recycled product — and also we are working with fellow sponsor Coca-Cola on the special drinks bottles the volunteers will get.”
