BRITAIN’S foreign secretary says European Union finance ministers will discuss a request to freeze assets held by members of ousted Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak’s former regime.

William Hague told the House of Commons that Egypt’s military rulers had requested Britain and others take action against several ex-officials, but did not specify whether they included Mubarak himself.

Hague said European finance ministers would be discussing the request later last night and today during planned talks in Brussels.
