Hacker fails in blackmail bid

SPANISH police have arrested a hacker who allegedly stole data on some 4,000 Nintendo users and then tried to blackmail the videogame giant.

Nintendo Spain said a hacker on February 6 had stolen the personal data of some 4,000 customers in Spain, and then threatened to denounce the company for negligence to data protection authorities.

Spanish police said when Nintendo did not reply to his demands he leaked information on one of the users in an online forum and threatened to release the rest of the data.
