Police disperse further Egypt protests

ANTI-GOVERNMENT activists defied an official ban on protests to clash with police in Egypt for a second day yesterday.

But strengthened forces on the streets quickly moved in and used tear gas and beatings to disperse them.

Security officials said 860 protesters have been rounded up since Tuesday, when tens of thousands turned out for the largest protests in years — inspired by the uprising in Tunisia.
