Cowen congratulates Chile on successful mission

TAOISEACH Brian Cowen has written to the President of Chile to congratulate all those involved in the successful rescue of the miners.

Mr Cowen has also written to Mincon, the engineering company in Shannon which supplied the drill that broke through the cavity where the miners were trapped.

In his letter to Chilean President Sebastian Pinera, Mr Cowen said that Ireland, like the rest of the world, had closely followed the story of the 33 miners.
