Ryan Giggs receives the Freedom of Salford

RYAN Giggs is not ready to lock up his massive trophy collection just yet, no matter how negatively Manchester United’s shock FA Cup defeat to Leeds has been viewed.

Giggs was at The Lowry Theatre yesterday to collect the Freedom of Salford. Previous recipients include Nelson Mandela.

But, once he steps away from yet more plaudits, the 36-year-old will be fully focussed on collecting three points at Birmingham tomorrow and bouncing back from the Leeds debacle.

“It has always been the same here, one defeat and it is a disaster,” reflected Giggs. “But we don’t get carried away with that...”

Although his hopes of a fifth FA Cup win bit the dust at Old Trafford on Sunday, he may still end up as a Premier League champion for the 12th time and a Champions League winner for the third time as well as taking a third Carling Cup title.
