BRITAIN’S Got Talent runner-up Susan Boyle was the star of the most-watched clip on video website YouTube this year, figures showed yesterday.

Susan Boyle tops YouTube clip list

The Scottish singer’s rendition of I Dreamed A Dream on the show was watched more than 120 million times by viewers across the world.

She netted more than three times the number of internet hits achieved by the second most-watched video of 2009.

The 48-year-old church worker from Blackburn, West Lothian, became an international star after her performance of the hit song from Les Miserables wowed the audience and judges on Britain’s Got Talent earlier this year.

Boyle now counts actor Demi Moore and her hero, singer Elaine Page, among her fans.

Boyle’s album recently went straight to number one in the charts, and achieved the best first week sales for a debut album. Her popularity on YouTube was announced as the internet site’s first official “most watched” lists were unveiled.

A clip named David After Dentist, featuring a disorientated young boy after receiving dental treatment, was this year’s second most popular video, attracting about 37 million views worldwide.

Data released by YouTube also showed that searches for golfer Tiger Woods rocketed this month as a series of affair allegations surfaced.

YouTube said “Tiger Woods” was the fastest rising search term in December across the world.

Third place on the 2009 most-watched list went to the video clip JK Wedding Entrance Dance, with more than 33 million views.

The five-minute film shows the bride and groom and their entourage in a dance routine as they make their way up the church aisle to be married.

But no video came close to matching Boyle’s popularity.

A clip of the moment the identity of The Stig was revealed on BBC’s Top Gear was among the most popular videos watched by people in Britain.

Michael Jackson’s death led to a surge in internet searches about him in June and July, the data showed.
