6,700 litres of alcohol a head

THE typical British adult knocks back more than 84 times their body weight in alcoholic drinks during their lifetime, according to research published yesterday.

6,700 litres of alcohol a head

The study, which coincides with the launch of an online “Alculator” allowing Britons to work out how much they drink, found the average adult will consume more than 6,700 litres of alcoholic beverages over the course of their life.

Devised by the Lloydspharmacy chain as part of its Neighbourhood Health Watch programme, the online facility was launched by television star Carol Vorderman at a bar in Birmingham.

The tool allows people to work out their lifetime alcoholic beverage consumption, as well as how much weight they can expect to gain from their favourite tipple over the next 12 months.
