She was picked with former boxer Joe Bugner for the Bad Pit trial, but said: “Someone else has to do it.

“I’m just not doing it anymore.”

A message on ITV.com read: “Katie Price has left the jungle.”

Viewers were told Hollywood actor George Hamilton was ruled out of taking part because of a medical condition.

On Sunday Price, turned “breadwinner” as she successfully completed another bushtucker trial.

The star put on a brave face despite begging the public to stop voting for her to do the tasks, saying: “I suppose you get into a routine and the routine is I go out to work to bring back the food and you just have your daily routine. I’m the breadwinner.”

The challenge saw her driving a car around a course stopping four times to fight through gunge, eat bugs, and conquer her fear of spiders to win 11 stars out of a possible 12.

Asked why she thought she was being picked, she said: “Either they love me or they hate me. No idea.

“I’m gutted I’m not in exile. I’d love to be in the last three to get voted out. It’s mad, I’ve done my due course, get me out of here.”

A spokesman for ITV said that there were “no current plans” to replace Price on the show.

Speaking about her decision to leave, Price said: “I’m not in it to win it, it makes no odds to me.

“It’s not about the money. I didn’t come back here for that. I really miss my kids.”

She continued: “I’ve done my challenges, people can see I’m genuine. I just don’t want to be here any more.”
