14 million tune into X Factor

TV’s The X Factor has hit a new high with its biggest ever British audience, it was announced yesterday.

The show — the second of this year’s live heats — drew a peak audience of 14.8 million on Sunday night, beating even last year’s final.

Half of TV viewers were watching the show — in which Whitney Houston and judge Cheryl Cole performed — at its audience peak.
