Brand promises to be on best behaviour at MTV awards show

RUSSELL BRAND will return as host of the MTV Video Music Awards, a year after his performance at the annual bash left some baffled and others outraged.

The controversial comedian shocked viewers of last year’s event, poking fun at wholesome boy band The Jonas Brothers over their purity rings and referring to former US president George W Bush as a “retarded cowboy fella”.

But the presenter has promised to be on his best behaviour at the show on September 13 in New York’s Radio City Music Hall.
