Man injured in grenade blast

A MAN taking part in a WWII re-enactment was taken to hospital after a grenade exploded in his hands, an ambulance service has said.

The 60-year-old was flown to Selly Oak Hospital in Birmingham after paramedics were called to the event in Evesham, Worcestershire yesterday.

The man, believed to be trained in pyrotechnics, was in full costume when the device exploded.

He suffered injuries to the left side of his chest, his abdomen and face.
