Stanford faces more charges

TEXAS billionaire Allen Stanford surrendered to US authorities in Virginia on Thursday night after criminal charges were filed against him.

Stanford, aged 58, already faces civil charges brought by the US Securities and Exchange Commission that he fraudulently sold $8 billion (€5.7bn) in certificates of deposit with improbably high interest rates from his Stanford International Bank.
