A MAN hailed a hero for saving a policeman from rioting football hooligans has had his sentencing for wasting police time adjourned.

Tom Bardsley, 24, was recommended for a bravery award after coming forward to say he helped drag an officer away from a mob of Glasgow Rangers fans last year.

Six months later he claimed he pulled a man out of a canal, but magistrates in Manchester ruled his story was not credible.
