Third divorce will be worth every penny, says Cleese

ACTOR and comedian John Cleese said his third divorce “will be worth every penny” after he was ordered to pay his estranged wife £75,000 (€94,351) a month in temporary maintenance, it emerged yesterday.

The Monty Python star separated from his psychotherapist wife Alyce Faye Eichelberger, whose work involved helping former England rugby captain Will Carling come to terms with his “love rat” image, four months ago after 15 years of marriage.

A judge in California’s Santa Barbara Superior Court ordered Cleese to pay up in a temporary arrangement until their divorce settlement is complete. The next hearing is on June 13.

Cleese said: “It’s going to be very, very expensive, but it will be worth every penny.”

His earnings over the past six years were reportedly more than £10.5 million (about €13m).
