Scarlett confirms engagement at A-list bash
The Lost In Translation actress showed off her engagement ring at the star-studded Metropolitan Museum Costume Institute Gala in New York on Sunday night.
Johanssonâs publicist Marcel Pariseau confirmed the 23-year-old actress and Definitely Maybe actor Reynolds, 31, were engaged but said they have not yet set a date for the wedding.
âTheyâre both thrilled,â Mr Pariseau told showbiz website People.com.
The couple have been dating for more than a year after Reynolds split up with fiance Alanis Morissette in 2006.
The annual gala in Manhattan drew star-studded names from across the world. Designer Giorgio Armani served as this yearâs honorary chair, while George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Vogue editor Anna Wintour chaired the benefit.
Armani dressed both Clooney and Roberts. âHe asked me very sweetly if Iâd be his date,â Roberts, wearing a platinum Giorgio Armani PrivĂ© gown, said about the designer, who also outfitted other A-list celebrities, including Tom Cruise, Katie Holmes, BeyoncĂ© Knowles and David and Victoria Beckham.
The crowd buzzed as Cruise and Holmes arrived, but they did not stop for interviews. Neither did Beyoncé, who was without Jay-Z and without a visible wedding ring.
Clooney was taking it all in stride. âI get to have a drink. Itâs easy for me,â he said.
